READER[HFCL TUTORIAL]
Originally this term designated an individual who was making use of printed text. Currently, it refers to an individual who is in the process of encountering text of any kind. In current communication theory reading is considered to be an important, and perhaps the most important, element in the construction of meaning. See also semiotics.

REALITY
Or, the truth, the world, the universe, and so on.
Who knows? Happy Fun Communication Land does not claim to be real, nor does it claim to know the truth.
Vonnegut: In the words of Kurt Vonnegut, "So it goes."

REIFICATION
In the social construction of reality the process by which social institutions become indistinguishable from naturally occurring events.

RELATIONSHIP [HFCL TUTORIAL: RELATIONSHIPS]
To say that two things are related is to say that changes in one are associated with changes in the other. Relationship is impossible without communication.
Relationships among elements are among the defining properties of systems.

RHETORIC
The art of persuasion.
Aristotle's Rhetoric provides one of humanity's first formal expositions on the art of persuading others to adopt one's own point of view.
